Cool Nights in Freo

CEO Update
It seems we are setting sail for some very cool winter nights in Fremantle and we are so excited to see how much the City will be activated by local businesses and industry over the winter months.

All entries are now in for the Fremantle Business Awards and the judging process is underway. I encourage you all to vote for your Top 10 People’s Choice awards finalists in the consumer categories before 21 May to go into the draw to win an amazing night at Quest Apartments – maybe use this to plan your Fremantle Business Awards night of nights on Friday June 7th – tickets are selling fast so make sure you have yours in hand as soon as you can.

Our Business Awards 2019 Major Partner – the City of Fremantle – have also launched their 10 Nights in Port Festival this week. From 12 July  – 21 July expect the unexpected wintery feasts, heritage building activations and winter wonderlust to be well and truly enticed. This will be complimented by the City’s Hidden Treasures on 11th, 18th and 20th July.

In addition, we met with Business of the Year 2019 sponsor Fremantle Ports contractor Element, who are gathering momentum with their plans for activating Victoria Quay and engaging stakeholders in a creative visioning exercise for bringing these plans to life.

On activation our next “Set the Month in Motion” monthly forums on Monday June 10th will bring together WA’s most creative and well know retail activators to discuss “Activating Spaces for Return”. What an opportunity to have a brainstorm on how to activate your business for Winter. I would also really recommend also tuning in to our new Podcast station to listen to our first of these forums on Navigating Tight Cashflow. This discussion was packed with practical examples from small business banking and accounting experts and a case study from one of our most seasonal and long-standing venues – “The Left Bank”. A great way to start your thinking around budget planning and seasonal forecasting for your business.

Finally, we have had some small wins on our lobbying effort on the mitigation strategies  for the Water Corporation’s “Pipes for Fremantle” project, with the Corporation agreeing to reduce the scope of the project and break the works down into two pieces to avoid the Christmas and Festival period.

So lets launch our Winter cool nights with a hearty rum people at the Norfolk Hotel’s Rum Night on May 23rd, tickets available on the Norfolk Hotel’s website.

Cool nights indeed.
