Fremantle Council have approved the installation of a shark net for Bathers Beach. The State Government will be major funding partners, whilst supplying over $500,000 towards the project. The installation of the shark barrier at Bathers Beach will be the states eighth barrier funded by the WA Government.

Additionally the City of Fremantle has committed to install seven new Beach Emergency Number (BEN) signs along the Swan River, providing further safety precautions for the Beach/River goers.
