“Do one thing everyday that scares you ” Eleanor Roosevelt
Life sometimes does get a little scary and complicated, and we are seeing some scary times upon us. It is funny how putting on a costume and seeing our children delight in the most simplest of things puts it all in perspective.
It seems our Fremantle community agrees, and we are pleased to announce our Halloween activation event reached full capacity yesterday afternoon!!
As a member secret, we have managed to release a couple of extra family spots following registration confirmations coming back in today. So if you would like to still bring your young spooks along best haste not waste. Register online now. In addition to lots of treats, some amazingly wonderful host venues and some background to Fremantle’s ghosts of the past, our host venues are offering some extra special offers for dinner and post event recovery activities. We sincerely thank Spotlight Fremantle and the participating venues for helping bring this event to life.
On a more serious note one of the scariest things we are seeing on the horizon is the continuing impact to our shipping and supply chain disruption for our exporters. We are engaging in the national conversation around this but so far the news continues to get worse not better, with many exporters having their shipments bumped on multiple occasions and space at a premium. Please continue to engage with our export desk on these challenges so we can continue to advocate and feedback to our national counterparts.
The Simplified Trade System Implementation Taskforce is conducting various research and engagement activities across October and November 2021 and they have requested feedback from our exporters and importers. There is more information on this below.
The Chamber attended the Buy West East Best Meet the Buyer at Crown Perth yesterday and it was good to chat to our exporters represented, and also meet other exporters facing similar challenges.
We also congratulate Chamber Member Garnett Hall from Fremantle Vet, who we profiled in last week’s Chamber Weekly on his Vet Chip about to take on the world, who has won the Business Events Perth “This is Fremantle” Aspire Award. The This is Fremantle Aspire Award provides a $5000 scholarship to assist the winner’s personal and professional development through the attendance at an overseas conference of their choice when international travel resumes with the intention of bringing a business conference back to Fremantle. Garnett will use the funds to attend the Singapore Vet Show and help put Fremantle on the map as the emerging home of amazing new technologies.
In other news this week, we have a new Aussie franchise opening in Fremantle, we have released the Christmas Party save the date, Puppets are arriving in the Park and lots more. Read more at Chamber Weekly here.
