“Don’t wait around for your life to happen to you. Find something that makes you happy and do it. Because everything else is all just background noise”. George Mason 1787

Life has certainly been happening at the Chamber this week with two of our largest networking events in the space of seven days!

It has been an energy filled, noisy and member centric week that reminded us again of how truly passionate and proud our Fremantle business leaders are, no matter what their field of endeavour.

Fremantle is currently home to only 29,000 people – yet we have one of the most internationally recognised vibrant and diversified creative industries in the world – with some 171 architects, 166 advertising and marketing workers, 107 creative digital workers and around 230 other designers employed in Fremantle (source: QUT Digital Media Research Centre Australian Cultural and Creative Activity: Population and Hotspot Analysis July 2020).

We certainly punch above our weight in creative services and so called “passion” industries. We also have the highest density of visual and performing artists in the state – at around 1% of our total fulltime workforce.

Hearing from our panel at Freo.Social at our PADC and FCC collaboration event last night on the incredible music and sound production talent that we have at our finger tips locally was a strong reminder to be proud of what we have here. As businesses, we need to value our talent and ensure they have the means to keep doing what they do best – providing the sound backdrop to our dancing feet and singing hearts, as well as the business of building our brands.

Nominations have now closed for the Fremantle Business Awards 2020 – with the exception of the International Trade and Creative Industries. Two new categories that we have decided to extend another week to capture those who attended our events over the last week.

If our last two events are anything to go by the Fremantle Business Awards 2020 will sell out and quickly. Themed around FEAST it is shaping up to be another event that is nothing like the instructions on the box!

So please do logon and secure your tickets now so we don’t have to disappoint closer to the date.

Tickets are available here

In other news, we are working closely with the City of Fremantle to bring to life our retail window activation project, distribute the next round of Fremantle from the Inside Maps (emailif you would like a bundle dropped to your office) and get our #doingbusinessinFremantle stickers around to all our members!

Lets keep connecting, making noise about how great talent here in Fremantle and continuing to enjoy the lifestyle that we are lucky enough to enjoy in our special corner of the world.
