In 2023, our iconic Fremantle metropolis celebrated the region’s status by holding the re-imagined Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2023.
In 2023, there were new categories, prizes and in its biggest twist, it changed to become publicly voted to unearth hidden gems and showcase the world-class offering right across our Port City!
Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said giving the community the chance to vote for their favourite business was exactly the Fremantle thing to do.
“The passion that people feel for everything Fremantle includes our businesses,” she said.
This public voted competition was for the public to heap praise on those that have resiliently endured the past years and to unearth hidden gems and showcase our Port City’s world-class offering.
There were 15 prestigious categories that businesses were crowned ‘Champion’ in.
The Hall of Fame Award (Sponsored by Fremantle Ports) awarded to businesses that have been running for 10 years or more went to Fremantle Chiropractic.
Fremantle Chamber of Commerce CEO Chrissie Maus congratulated the winners and all the businesses nominated. She said the awards were the most successful ever held by the Chamber with members of the public making 3,200 business nominations. “With the Chamber celebrating its 150th anniversary this year the awards were a fitting way to mark our big birthday,” she said.

Stage #1 - Nominations

The nomination period opens at 12 noon Tuesday 1 August 2023. Nominations close at 12 noon Monday 4 September 2023.

No, nominations are open to all businesses in the Greater Fremantle Area. This includes Cockburn, O’Connor, Hamilton Hill, Melville, White Gum Valley, Beaconsfield, North Coogee, Spearwood & Henderson.
Please refer to the area map to cross check if the business is within the designated area.

Yes, you are allowed to nominate a business in as many categories as you like.
Nominations are limited to one business, in each category, per email address.

There is no entry fee for the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce (FCC) Business Awards. Most awards have an entry cost (sometimes as much as $1200+), however, the FCC wanted all businesses to have the opportunity to be nominated, become finalists, and potentially win.

All categories were devised to make sure all business types and traders could at least fit into one of the 15 prestigious categories.

No, businesses that are not bricks & mortar (or not public facing) will still have as much opportunity to share the message. They can use their online and client channels to drive nomination and finalist votes.

Should a nominated business become a finalist, they will be notified in writing by The Chamber. Membership will be given at a discounted rate for those who become a finalist. If the business is not an FCC member, they will not be eligible to win their category.

The Fremantle Chamber of Commerce [FCC] will count the digital nominations in each category and a certain percentage of the nominations will become finalists. The more nominations, the better chance of becoming a finalist.
