Artwalk Freo returns with biggest event yet

After a longer than anticipated hiatus, Artwalk Freo will return in 2024! Throughout the streets of Freo and surrounds, more than 20 local and international artists will throw open the doors to their studios, homes and creative spaces, offering you the chance to take a glimpse inside a working studio.

Whether you're a lifelong art enthusiast or simply curious about the artistic process, Artwalk Freo provides a rare opportunity to get a firsthand look into the life of an artist and witness their creative inspiration on display.

This year, the event has grown to take place over three weekends. Kicking off on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of May, each weekend will focus on a different group of artists located within walking distance of each other. The entire event is designed to be experienced on foot, allowing you to explore these artistic pockets by wandering from studio to studio throughout the day. All routes are approximately 4kms long.

At each studio, artwork will be available to purchase directly from the artists. You can choose to attend a single weekend only or attend all three with a discounted season pass. Tickets are selling fast, so buy your tickets here to make sure you don't miss out.

About Artwalk Freo:

In late 2014, a small group of established Fremantle artists came together spontaneously with the idea to open their homes and studios to the public for one weekend. At short notice, over 400 people visited and Artwalk Freo was born.

Building on the success of that inaugural event, Artwalk Freo became a biennial event and in September 2015, May 2017 and June 2019 the artists again opened to the public and had a fabulous response! Unfortunately in 2021, COVID-19 had other ideas and the event has since been on hiatus.

The creative process can be a solitary one and people rarely have the opportunity to glimpse inside a working studio and observe. An artist's studio is where all the inspiration, work sketches, thoughts and ideas merge together to become something wonderful. For Artwalk Freo visitors, being able to walk around and soak in that creative atmosphere, and discuss concepts with the artists can be an insightful and inspiring experience!
