Fremantle Chamber of Commerce celebrates early beginnings as part of 150th anniversary
It’s been 150 years since a group of men met at the Orient Hotel in Fremantle and resolved to form a Chamber of Commerce.
Those men likely didn’t see it coming but last week it was a woman — current CEO Chrissie Maus, who is the chamber’s third female chief executive in its history — with the honour of leading celebrations for that incredible legacy.
“I like to think that some of our founding fathers would look at the dress I am wearing tonight and say ‘I wish I could have worn that’,” she said.
