Fremantle Cruise Ship Timetable for 2025 & 2026
The following is a blog from Paul at Perth’s discount cruise specialists 101cruise.com.au
On the weekly cruise segment with 6PR’s Bruce Welsh yesterday (Feb 1), Marg called in to ask why there are not more cruises leaving from Fremantle for those who don’t necessarily want to travel a long way to get on board. Thanks for your call Marg and here’s a lengthier explanation.
It’s a shame that the Fremantle port hasn’t got its act together like other ports in Australia. I was in Hobart just a few weeks ago and saw their beautiful passenger terminal at the port, which is conveniently located on the edge of Hobart city and it’s a really vibrant, working area. Each day there were two different passenger ships in offloading and reloading passengers ranging from Disney Wonder, one from Cunard and Holland America and the magnificent Scenic Eclipse - all just within a 3 day period.
If Fremantle port got their act together, they would be welcoming more cruise lines to the port. Having an outdated ugly passenger terminal with a lot of dead space surrounding it with new cars waiting to be delivered to car yards is not an ideal “Welcome to Freo” message that visitors should experience. But it looks like this won’t even take place until the end of the next decade - that’s right the end of the 2030’s.
According to ABC News, relocating Western Australia's main container port from Fremantle to Kwinana will cost at least $7 billion, and the government wants it done by the end of the 2030s. The relocation should happen before Fremantle Port reaches capacity — a scenario which a new study says would put a significant brake on the state's economy.
The Westport Taskforce, the government body charged with planning and building the new port, has released its business case for the enormous Kwinana project.
It calculated that if nothing was done and Fremantle Port was allowed to reach capacity, more trade destined for WA would have to pass through the eastern states, costing WA about $5 billion a year.
And I’ve heard on the grapevine that when it does move, they won't be moving the deliveries of new cars🙄. All freight including new cars should be diverted to Westport and for a state government that is currently in surplus due to our mining royalties, you would think it would become a priority to increase visitor traffic to see this great state of ours.
Rant over. here are the ships currently brave enough to come to Freo over the next two years.
Here are the cuise ships visiting Fremantle over the enxt two years. Keep in mind they are “visiting” - it may be in the middle of a cruise - not necessarily leaving from Fremantle on a cruise, so you may not be able to jump on baord all of them. After the list, I have included a few crusies that literally are leaving from Fremantle, along with their current retail pricing. 101cruise.com.au can often get beter prices than these. If you’re interested in any of them then just ask Paul.
