Fremantle Design Week Commences!

Fremantle Design Week returns to the port city from October 18 - 25, celebrating design in all its forms with an engaging program of over 50 events, conversations, tours, workshops, films and open studios.

Themed ‘transition’, the week-long, walkable festival will inspire and entertain audiences, whilst asking them to consider how, in challenging times, we rethink our world to design a healthy, positive future.

Across the week, audiences are invited to immerse themselves in the eclectic spaces and places of Fremantle/Walyalup, connect with design, and discover new perspectives.

Highlights include renowned LA-based speculative architect Liam Young, whose week-long free exhibition of video works, Planetary Transition, is a Perth first. His keynote presentation is not to be missed!

At the festival hub, PS Art Space, take in ten talks in the Conversation Series, which pose questions like: How would you design a house for someone with ADHD? What off-the-plan houses can local architects offer? And how do we define ‘good design’ in 2024?

Explore Gradients, an exhibition of commissioned furniture by some of WA's most exciting designers and makers. At the Naval Store, The Nature of Transition will features installations by multiple designers and artists, including Lightly, Remington Matters and Jordy Hewit.

With a fashion catwalk show, a PechaKucha night, a fabulous design film festival and kids’ workshops, it's going to be an engaging and entertaining week!
