Shanahan shaping Fremantle’s view for 20 years.

Fremantle’s business community has applauded local businessman David Shanahan as he commemorates 20 years of outstanding service to our Port City.

Captivated by the charm of Fremantle during a gap year in 1989, local Optometrist David relocated to the vibrant city of Fremantle in 2003 from Ireland, fulfilling his aspiration of establishing his own practice at the heart of our beloved town.

Operating independently under the business name David Shanahan Optometrists, David and his team opened up shop in 2003 on Cantonment Street, before relocating to Market Street in 2006 at a shopfront he has operated in since.

Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Chrissie Maus said the success of David Shanahan Optometrists is an example of the real sense of community that’s back on the streets of Fremantle.

“The Fremantle Chamber of Commerce congratulates David Shanahan Optometrists for their commitment and success over the last 20 years in our unique Port City,” Ms Maus said.

“David Shanahan Optometrists are independently and locally run whilst providing a unique offering – this to which I believe is the recipe for future business success,” added Ms Maus.

“There is a groundswell movement for supporting local businesses, this is seeing more people understand the impact they can have by supporting local businesses and a real sense of Community is back now more than ever on our local Fremantle streets.

“Their prestigious Hall of Fame nomination at the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Business Awards last year shows the love our local community has for David, his staff and his long-standing business.”
